One of the few newly formed entities in this list, Viatris, resulted from a November 2020 merger of Mylan and Pfizer's Upjohn division. In charge of the Canonsburg, Pennsylvania-based company is former Mylan CEO Robert Coury, who led that company from 2002 to 2012. Included in the company's product lineup are well-known off-patent drugs such as Viagra, Xanax and Lipitor. Viatris also makes a variety of biosimilars, branded and complex generics, over-the-counter drugs and active pharmaceutical ingredients. One of the company's first initiatives to optimize profitability is to enact measures to allow $1 billion in annual cost-saving measures. To that end, Viatris announced in December that it would lay off 20% of its workforce. The company anticipates to complete its restructuring by 2024. –BB
