Shimadzu has released a technical report for its ELSD-LT II evaporative light scattering detector. “Principles and Practical Applications of Shimadzu’s ELSD-LT II Evaporative Light Scattering Detector” is available for download.
ELSD enables efficient execution of the batch analysis of multiple components in a variety of application areas, which call for ultra high-speed analysis. In addition to describing the operating principles and practical benefits of ELSDs, this technical paper reports on the analyses of polyethylene glycol, triglycerides, and oligosaccharides. In each of these studies, ELSD enabled the efficient execution of batch analysis of multiple components through high-speed sampling rates that help produce sharp peaks (20 msec); suppression of peak spreading by reduction of the drift tube’s inert diameter; and peak focusing using assisting gas.
