Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a leader in serving science, announced the new Thermo Scientific Wellwash and Wellwash Versa strip washers. Both models feature a large, easy-to-use, icon-based, graphic user-interface, available in eight languages, as well as a context-sensitive help feature. As a result, protocols can be developed quickly with minimal training. Non-pressurized wash bottles enable operators to use their own containers, eliminating leakage concerns associated with pressurized bottles, such as damage to liquid-sensitive internal components. Furthermore, the instruments ensure extremely low residual volumes via the sweep mode, improving the ELISA assay results.
The Wellwash strip washer is an ideal entry-level unit that is compatible with 96-well plates, making it an excellent fit for routine clinical use. The more advanced Wellwash Versa instrument performs efficient washing of cells as well as 384-well plates. Its double strip wash heads increase throughput, and washing efficiency is maximized by the linear shaking mechanism. In addition, each model incorporates an automatic prime and rinse feature to prevent the clogging of liquid channels for reliable and accurate performance. The aerosol cover prevents aerosols of infectious diseases from spreading.
A built-in USB port makes it easy to transfer plate washing protocols between a PC and a washer, or from one washer to another, using a USB flash memory stick. The Wellwash and Wellwash Versa microplate washers are ideal for use in any laboratory performing ELISAs or cell washing.
