Sample Storage

By Drug Discovery Trends Editor | March 31, 2010

compoundTTP LabTech’s comPOUND system consists of a high-density, self-contained, automated sample store and a suite of specialised delivery modules. comPOUND offers flexible storage capacity with high speed cherry-picking to select library subsets, capable of delivering any sample in 5 seconds. Sample integrity is maintained using a hermetically sealed storage chamber with an inert nitrogen atmosphere kept at -20°C, and tracking is assured using a 2D barcode on each microtube. The innovative use of pneumatics means that samples can be delivered up to 15m away from comPOUND, and delivered to the laboratory, while the store is housed elsewhere.

Multiple modules can be connected easily to form a larger store for expanding libraries. Units are connected in parallel, so tubes can be accessed from all connected modules at the same time. This maximises throughput so processing speeds increase with the number of modules linked together. For fully-automated assay plate creation, comPOUND stores can be interfaced to the comPILER high throughput, store-to-plate processing system. comPILER can cherry-pick from up to 12 comPOUND stores at the same time, allowing the system to retrieve, process and re-store over 20,000 microtubes in 8 hours. comPOUND and comPILER are proven to maintain sample integrity in a reliable, fully automated environment – without the need for operator intervention. This modular approach to sample storage allows your throughput to grow with your sample library.
