Sample Storage Tubes

By Drug Discovery Trends Editor | August 9, 2012

Micronic sample storage tubes are manufactured from medical grade polypropylene in a fully automated Class 7 cleanroom environment ensuring they exhibit absolute product consistency, near zero contaminants and compliance with US and European Pharmacopoeia tests. The tubes resist many organic solvents (DMSO, methanol, dichloromethane), may be autoclaved clean and can be repeatedly freeze-thawed without loss of product performance. A unique 2D code on the bottom of each tube provides an easy and unambiguous means of storing and identifying samples. The optimised internal shape of each Micronic sample storage tube ensures the lowest possible dead volume and maximum sample recovery. Designed to fit 96 individual tubes into a standard footprint rack optimises use of valuable freezer space and ensures automation compatibility.

Designed to seal sample storage tubes in the 96-well format – the Micronic CapCluster system offer the ability to securely cap a single tube, a row of tubes or to apply 96 caps in a single action. Available for use with a wide range of tube volumes (0.50ml, 0.75ml, 1.10ml, 1.40ml, 2.50ml, 6.00ml and 7.50ml) – Capcluster caps are made of a USP Class VI certified thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) that acts as an excellent vapour barrier for both water and DMSO. Used in storage facilities worldwide Micronic Capcluster TPE caps are proven to maintain a strong and secure seal at temperatures down to -80°C.

The Micronic Tracxer RS210 provides a complete tube code reading solution for your lab irrespective of the brand of coded tubes you use to store your samples. The reader is fully compatible with all SBS standard storage racks, which enables the reading of 24-, 48-, 96- and even 384-well formats. Due to its compact A5 size – the Micronic Tracxer is a perfect choice for use in robotic liquid handling and storage systems. Built to deliver long-term reliability and industry leading precision – Micronic have developed new intuitive software for the Tracxer that is easy-to-use, gives reliable readings of 2D codes and provides data that is readily integrated into any laboratory sample database.

Completing Micronic’s comprehensive sample storage solution for biobanks and biorepositories is the Track-IT™ information management system. Fully compatible with most commercial barcode readers, scanners and Tubesorter systems – Track-IT allows you to catalogue and organise samples quickly and efficiently. The central information database produced by Track-IT is customisable to match the workflow of your laboratory, as well as to match the unique aspects of different sample types. Track-IT has been designed to empower you to simply manage sample data and information and make it available to other colleagues in their organisation.
