Next Generation Mass Spectrometry Systems

By Drug Discovery Trends Editor | November 6, 2008

AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500Applied Biosystems Inc. and MDS Analytical Technologies introduced two mass spectrometry systems, the AB SCIEX Triple Quad 5500 and the AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500 Systems, to provide researchers with complete workflow solutions.

The AB SCIEX Triple Quad 5500 System and the AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500 System, powerful and versatile next-generation mass spectrometers that enable complete workflow solutions, are comprised of systems, software, and applications. These next-generation systems were designed to expand the utility and effectiveness of mass spectrometry.

The AB SCIEX Triple Quad 5500 System introduces the next generation in triple quadrupole mass spectrometry. This triple quadrupole system delivers accurate quantitative results at fast scan speeds to identify the greatest number of target analytes at the lowest concentrations in complex samples. The system also delivers a new standard of performance by combining sensitivity and AcQuRate, which detects ions to increase quantitative accuracy and precision. This enables an increase in sensitivity.

The AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500 System is a next-generation mass spectrometer that integrates triple quadrupole capabilities with an innovation in ion trap technology called Linear Accelerator Trap for quantitative and qualitative analysis. This system integrates the features of the AB SCIEX Triple Quad 5500 System, combining them with Linear Accelerator Trap technology. This combination results in a system that integrated sensitivity and high performance for both quantitative and qualitative analysis. The AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500 System enables scientists to both identify and confirm results in a single analysis.
