NEW YORK (AP) – Novartis AG said the Food and Drug Administration approved Amturnide, a high blood pressure combination pill that includes Novartis’ drug Tekturna.
The Swiss drugmaker said Amturnide combines Tekturna with amlodipine, a drug that blocks calcium from entering blood vessel walls, and hydrochlorothiazide, which is a diuretic that reduces the amount of water in the blood. Earlier this year, Novartis received FDA approval for a drug that combines Tekturna with amlodipine.
