Automated Homogenizer

By Drug Discovery Trends Editor | July 21, 2009

The new Omni LH96R Liquid Handling Homogenizer Workstation is designed for walk away batch processing of up to 192 samples per cycle. The LH96R homogenizes three samples at a time, using three Whisper Drive Technology motors which independently process each sample. The LH96R consists of a core processing platform that can be enhanced with a broad range of user specified accessories and modules.

Four independent pipetting channels can transfer homogenate from the sample tubes to 96-well microplates or other secondary tubes. Liquid level detection is also available if needed for specific protocols. The LH96R can automatically dispense buffer based on user defined specifications or actual sample weight.

Organization, consistency and precision are very important when dealing with a high number of samples. A bar code reader can provide sample tracking. Automatic sample weighing is another optional feature for the LH96R. Sample refrigeration is also available for those working with frozen and/or delicate samples.

The LH96R is compatible with stainless steel generator probes and patented Omni Tip plastic homogenizing probes which are disposable if sample carryover cannot be tolerated. Use of Omni Tips eliminates the cleaning cycle, thereby cutting the processing cycle in half. They also eliminate cross-contamination, and the simple two-piece design minimizes sample loss. Omni Tips are tough enough to homogenize frozen tissue and may be disposed of, reused or autoclaved after use.
