AstraZeneca is a Cambridge, U.K.–headquartered company. It saw its revenue increase 38% in 2021 — 23% if one excludes its COVID-19 vaccine Vaxzevria. In 2021, the company delivered 2.5 billion doses of Vaxzevria, although the bulk of those deliveries was on a not-for-profit basis. AstraZeneca also won emergency use authorization from FDA for Evusheld, an antibody cocktail to prevent COVID-19 in some high-risk populations. The company announced in December 2021 that Evusheld retained its neutralizing activity against the omicron variant in an independent FDA study. Evusheld won approval in Europe in March 2022. In March 2022, AstraZeneca announced that the monoclonal antibody maintained protection against the BA.2 subvariant in new independent studies.
